      [Dell has a reputation for being tops in tech support and customer service and I wholeheartedly agree. I've never had a company invest so much time in my research of a product and walk me through every aspect of it before purchase, with total follow-through and a tech support person at my disposal in the future.]

      This gaming laptop from Dell is way more than I ever expected and is my first by this manufacturer. I was actually on a hunt for a new, regular laptop, not a gaming laptop. Then why buy one? Well, the timing was perfect. This is a newly released upgrade of the previous Dell model. Covid quarantine and a lack of laptop inventory in stores had me at a standstill for a new laptop. When the Vine Program offered this laptop, I couldn't order it fast enough. I was already on shaky ground with Microsoft no longer offering security for Windows 7 on my current laptop and my emergency need was fulfilled.

      Although I ordered sight unseen without my typical hands-on testing of the system and keyboard (something that is unheard of for me), I did plenty of research first. For hours, I grilled Dell reps on the phone about the system and its compatibility for someone like me who really needs a full service laptop, not just a gaming laptop. This machine does both equally, and then I got extremely excited about having the best of both worlds. A twofer that met my all needs and beyond. Other than having to buy an external DVD drive and/or or hard drive to download programs and files from my other laptop, there's nothing the system won't do for me.

      I'll leave all the technical aspects to serious gamers, but let's just say that this a very well-equipped model. Fast with 10th Gen Intel core i-7, a better cooling system (dual) than a standard laptop, and looks to be more energy efficient because of it than my current laptop. It's a bit heavier due to the internal hardware for gaming, but really is the same as my Samsung which has an internal DVD drive that adds weight and thickness to my old laptop. Since laptops are much more streamlined now and proprietary regarding operating systems and software, I needed one with a Windows system for my usage and the ability to use Microsoft software and other standalone software, which narrowed my laptop choice. I mourn the days of 4 USB ports, and thankfully this has 3 (2 old style and a backwards compatible Thunderbolt port). An HDMI port, and more ports than I currently have. THINGS I REALLY LIKE: anti-glare screen which I already had, the design of narrowed side front bezels, RGB keyboard with blue backlit keys (which can be turned off), Thunderbolt, and Alienware under the hood. It has powerful, discrete graphics, and dual speakers. There's so much personalization and fine-tuning with this system that I was never aware of before, and yet I'd never know all that was possible when just using it as an ordinary laptop.

      I don't usually buy technology beyond my current needs because it makes no sense with such rapid changes, but this time I did buy "forward" and am so glad that I took a chance on this system. Very easy setup and it works like buttah. Unlike the critical reviews, I've had no problems with setup or use, and am really learning this system as I go. The only sacrifice may be battery life which is typical for gaming systems. It's not the top of the line system (more moderate level), but it's way more than adequate and I've encountered no issues or aspects I don't like. I have a major rule of thumb that never lets me down: No matter how well-versed I think I am in a product, I ALWAYS read the manual completely to totally familiarize myself with all aspects of its operation. I find that doing this prevents alot of needless issues and makes setup and use much more streamlined and seamless.
